Fife business owners Glenn Malloy and Steve Davies are expanding their popular retail lifestyle store and café in St Andrews, Spoiled Life, with plans to open a new store on the horizon.

The three-level store, established in February 2020 just as the pandemic was looming, is now stocking clothing lines, footwear and accessories from 11 designers with enquiries from customers coming from all over Scotland.

Glenn and Steve hope to broaden the store’s appeal to existing customers while attracting new ones via in-person shopping and its website.

The pandemic brought significant challenges for Spoiled Life, located a few metres away from Spoiled Hairdressing, Steve and Glenn’s original business venture.

Instead of allowing customers to browse the lifestyle and homewares offering within the quirky space on Greyfriars Garden, the team expanded their online retail offer and sold takeaway cakes and coffee, serving over 300 customers daily from their makeshift doorway stall.

Glenn said: “St Andrews is multicultural and bursting with tourism. We’ve lost count of the students, locals and tourists that have walked through the doors looking for something a bit different. The clothing offering will be a breath of fresh air for our customers, who already trust our eye for style.”

The Spoiled brand has existing connections to the local fashion scene with the team often volunteering to style models’ hair for St Andrews University’s Don’t Walk charity fashion shows.

A long-time dream of Steve and Glenn, the decision was made to launch a café and lifestyle shop while they were travelling and the clothing and brands stocked reflect their love for travel and European trends. All lines are handpicked by them and store manager Juliet Downes.
